Why your business does not show up on Google, and what it took to fix it in a week

You do great work and get referrals, but when someone searches your name or your service, nothing comes up. Here is what was missing for a Winnipeg property services company, and the four things that took him from invisible to found, booked and reviewed in a week.

Somebody hears your name from a friend. They pull out their phone and type it into Google. And nothing comes up. No map pin, no website, no reviews, maybe a competitor’s ad instead. That is where a lot of people quietly stop looking, and you never know they were looking.

If you have ever searched your own business and felt that drop in your stomach, this is for you.

What “not showing up on Google” usually means

Zach at Manzano Property Services does snow, yards, fences and grading here in Winnipeg. A few years in business, great work, happy customers, referrals by word of mouth. And online, nothing. No Google Business Profile. No website. No logo.

That is more common than people think, and it is not a Google penalty or a mystery. It is usually four missing pieces:

  1. No Google Business Profile. This is the map pin with your hours, phone and reviews. Without it, you do not exist in the map results, which is where most local searches end.
  2. No website. The profile links somewhere, and Google trusts a business with a real page that says what it does and where.
  3. No reviews. A profile with zero reviews looks abandoned, even when the business is busy.
  4. Nothing that looks like one business. No logo, different names in different places. Google and customers both get confused.

What we did, in the order it mattered

The Google Business Profile came first. Set up properly, with the real service area, the real categories and a phone that gets answered. This is what puts you on the map when somebody in your area searches for what you do. I walked Zach through the parts that had to be him.

The review system next, so the customers who already loved his work had somewhere to say it. A branded review page, one tap to Google for the happy ones, a private note to him for anyone who had a problem.

Then a website that says what he does and where. Not a brochure. The service, the area, and a button to call, before anyone scrolls. Google needs the words on the page to match what people search for, so every service got its own page: snow removal Winnipeg, fence installation, yard grading.

And a logo, so the profile, the site, the truck and the invoice all look like one business instead of a guy with a truck.

What changed

All of that went live within a week. From nothing to a business you could find, book and read about. And the reviews started coming, people raving about work he had been doing for years with nobody able to see it.

Zach did not get better at his job that week. He was already good. The world just could not find him.

If this is you

Search your business name right now. Then search your service and your city. If you are not on the map or on the first page for either one, the four pieces above are the fix, and none of them require you to become a marketer.

Do it yourself with the videos, or tell me what’s broken. A website that gets the call is from $1,800, and it comes with the profile and the review system wired in.
